sounds like there is no kick stop in it (mine dosent even go down to the floor board) but anyway if there is no kick stop in it it will go back to far and pop the spring out of the hole(and possibly cause engine damage) check a clymer manual for what to look for (the kick stop) it should be a metal tab on the kickstarter shft (i`m not sure where) that once it goes back so far it hits a tab moleded in to the case and stops the kick starter.
