Big bear front bearing replace
#3
It may depend on the age of your Big Bear and will depend if it is 2WD or 4WD. The only Yam front hubs I have changed had a nut holding the disc and hub onto the drive shaft. Remove caliper, remove nut, pull hub and disc off, remove track rod end, remove pinch bolts for top & bottom ball joints and knock joints out of knuckle assembly. Once knuckle assy is off, move the spacer between the two bearings over slightly so you can knock one bearing out with a drift through the centre of the other bearing, then remove spacer and knock other bearing out.

Finally got a 3 point puller to get it off. I will do the same tomorrow they are really bad. Rode it but still having a noise on the front seems like I need to greese up something. Hoping that maybe tomorrow once I pull the other on it will go away.

This is an old thread but did you find and cure the front noise issue?
If not, jack up the front end and spin each wheel and listen for and feel for any noise, metal grating, wheel wobbling, etc. If wheel bearings seem to be OK, bounch the front end up and down and listen for a lower ball joint creaking. I have that problem now.

Does anyone know if I can use a rear hub on the front. I have been looking can't find an answer for my question. They only difference I can tell is there is a hole in the front hubs and the rear one is sold.

According to Babbitts parts book, the bearings and seals have different part numbers so are probably a different size. Only way to check is put drums side by side and measure drum dia and sizes of bearing and seal spigots. Spline sizes too may differ.
