Because you have a problem, an electrical problem. You have some research to do, as it could be lots of things from a loose wire or a loose bulb in the socket, to a bad fuse or switch. Just have to track it down.

Well, I kind of figured I had a problem. I thought if there would be any suggestions. Yes, I did replace the bulbs but only about 1 year ago. I'll go about checking the fuses etc,.

You can work logically, if both lights go out at once, it isn't the bulbs. If the tail light goes out as well, it is in the main circuit to or from the on-off light switch, if the tail light stays on, do the headlights come back when the low beam is chosen, if so it is either the main beam wires or the hi-lo switch.

Ya, I think its the main line or the switch because they both go out at the same time. Right now, I can't tell from the taillight or anything because the wire there is broke where the back compartment is. From over time flipping it open and closed just eventually bit it in half (at the bottom, where it's guided through). I'll get that done some other time though. Ya, it looks pretty scary in there when you take off the headlight cover and see inside. It seems like if you just touch one wire or try to fix or touch anything the whole bike will be killed electronically, ha ha.
