1997 Wolverine 350 4x4 lack of power
I recently purchased a 1997 Wolverine 350 4x4 and it is lacking power and will not go over 30 mph. I have drained all the old gas and replaced it, cleaned the carb and made sure the main jet is clear and replaced the plug. The bike will idle great, no sputtering and will run great in 1st and 2nd gear but as I get higher in the rpms in 3rd gear I start to notice it doesn't pick up much more speed. It will not accelerate any more in 4th and 5th but holds the speed at about 30 mph. There is no spitting or sputtering and the clutch is not slipping, its like that is all the power the bike has. The bike has a dg slip on exhaust, a 150 main jet and 25 inch tires. Am I wrong to rule out an electrical issue because the plug is not black and fouled it looks ok but on the leaner side of ok.
Thanks,
Jason

if it was my atvi would change the air filter and if there is a external fuel filter change it as well and price a fuel pump mby change it to . i have learned that a fuel pump that is dyeing a slow and painful death can cause a lack of power. I'm no expert on the clutch assembly's and all but it is a well known fact that worn springs etc will cause power loss as well. unless your a hard core diy guy if it was me i would change the obvious parts and if the problem remains find a creditable shop and let them do the rest. the worst felling in the world is getting a atv apart then its like well dang how did this go again then your left with hours of headache that is unless your into that kind of thing lol.
