How do u make a Warrior Smoke a 400ex
#11
I agree with 660r01.
It is funny when comparing the 400ex to anything, it still comes out to be the best quad by some. In my opinion it is a nice quad, seen a lot of them but never rode one. These things aren't the best thing to be made since the gas engine. You know what I am saying.
I have always made it a point never to get involve with the arguments about who's quads the best on these forums. Even though this posts is not one of them, for some reason this one has struck a nerve.
All he asked for was some constructive advice on how to make his Warrior fast enough to bet a 400ex. And even though they maybe joking with what they say Edge, in my opinion it is not that far from being attainable. EX lovers swear up and down that a 440 kit makes the EX faster than a Raptor. Very wrong in my opinion. Raced one, 440 EX has good low and mid range, still not enough top end to bet me. But I will add on the MX track, different story than a drag raced. I must admit it is easier to go faster on the tracks with the EX but with skill and practice, the Raptor can be just as fast. And for the record he couldn't bet me out on the track either.
I might own a Raptor, but I like all quads and if I were rich I would own one of each. But for what makes me happy the Raptor is the best of the choices. And that is one thing everyone has, is the freedom to choose what they decided to ride and make payments on.
Just my two cents, and this not meant to be argumentative. So lets all try to be constructive and respectable for our fellow forum users posts.
Peace.

It would only take a few minor mods to keep up, but if the 400ex adds some, you're behind, once again. Boring .010 over, in my opinion, wouldn't make all that much of a difference, but a bit higher compression would. If I were concerned with bore, I'd look into a big bore kit, like the 400cc kit. From there, I don't think it would take much at all. I'm looking into a White Bros. cam right now for my Warrior. I ride with a group of warrior owners, and I like being the fastest of the group. Throw in a 400ex, and it may be difficult. Brush up on the riding skills. Rider experience means alot.

14/38 gearing, and you'll keep up. Put a pipe, and better suspension, and you'll SMOKE, in your words, a 400EX. When he adds more to his quad your out of luck unless you add more to yours. I dragged a 400ex sunday and killed him. his was stock, mine has a pipe, and a K&N filter, and 14/38 gearing. No joke, you can even ask him if you want to.

Here is what I have on mine and I can outrun a STOCK 400EX easy enough in a drag race but cant compete in Handling. 15/38 gearing, Duncan Double Barrel complete exhaust system, Web Cam .430 cam, Titanium valve springs and retainers, Wiseco piston and rings, K&N air filter, 20x11x9 Razr's on back. Oh yeah the reason my signature says 14 tooth front sprocket is I use that usually to go trail riding and the 15 for racing.

I dont know about that. That 440 rider must not have been to aquainted with his machine or something. I have seen numerous 440 vs Raptor, 440 vs ds650, 440 vs kx250, 440 vs 250r and the result was the same EVERYTIME 440 WON!!! Now we all have our war stories about how my quad stayed with that quad or my quad beat this quad but there is no way in hell that a BROKEN IN Raptor could even keep up with a 440 to even let top end play a part in the race. My buddies with a high compression piston, porting and a dmc exhaust was dead nuts with a piped Raptor through the ENTIRE race. It may have cost him a little bit over $500 to accomplish this but still has room to make up the price difference between the two.
