If your riding a quad, you don't need the best boots in the world, at least IMHO.

I went with some cheapy Thor T-10s, they do the trick, not expensive, and yet you can move your ankle some, unlike motocross boots which at as stiff as a rail..

Just my $.02
I'm sure not everyone will agree..

I ride in duck boots that I got from Ames. If you plan on racing you might want to show up with something alot better...like alpinestars

I would have agreed with these other guys a month ago, but after riding at the mx track a couple of weekends ago and wearing my work type boots. I have recently purchased riding boots after coming up short on a double and having my ankles twist, slam and scrape against the side of the motor.

I recently purchased a pair of Alpinestar Tech 6 boots and lovem. They do take a while to get used to and you may need to adjust your gear shifter, but well worth the protection you get. I even noticed that the compound that's used on the soles help keep your feet planted on the pegs much better too.

The only thing I don't understand is why they use good italian leather? I thought that was supposed to be some of the best leather in the world, wouldn't it just get ruined?

The Gaerne Balanced Oil boot is really good. It costs $239. Get the waterproof paste for them too. I think you can only get these boots from Ryan Young Products. You've probably seen them advertised in the magazines as All Terrain boots.

I hate to say this but I've been riding for 30 years. We all spend money to make the bike or quad faster but never spend the money on our own protection. Just think though how fast you'll be going when your on crutches. Both me and my son have seen many stiches and broken bones in the years and we ride with Alpinestars boots. Not to promote that brand but I would say a good set of motocross boots would do you fine. It will take you a while to get used to riding in these type of boots but after you do you'll wonder why you didn't have them all along. They really are worth the investment. You only get 2 feet and after you break an ankle of foot bone it will bother you the rest of your life. Think hard, besides isn't your birthday or Christmas coming soon?

I bought some O'neal Moto X boots. They offered great protection, but the were extremely uncomfortable once you got off of the quad to take a break. I then bought a pair of Gaerne Explorers. They are made for ATV riders, so they say. They offer great protection while riding, plus, they feel like tennis shoes while walking around during your riding breaks. I recomend them strongly.
