hey, NocandoCannibal that was a good article. I don't really think that I can go through the woods really any faster than when I was on my 300ex. I would have to say the Raptors fun factor and comfort is much greater though. Like the article says when it opens up and on the fire roads or the rock roads we have around here the Raptor sure does excel there. If I want to really go fast I just get on my kdx where its really the king of the woods at our place. Still though a 400EX could be in my future. Chet

Ah, Davey...so we chat again. Remember some of our lively exchanges? I see nothing has changed. For shame! Since it is obvious you are too unwilling to reason with, let me explain for myself and ALL the resonable people that view this forum. Time and time again, as I read the posts, I am sickened by the inept, inane comments of certain people whom you seem to insist on emulating. I ask why?? No one has objections to a constructive, useful post. Why can't we use this format for the reasons it was intended? You on the other hand always have to inject your sarcastic, inflammatory comments. What is the purpose??? Does it somehow validate your sense of self worth? Does it make you extra proud that you bought a DS? I'm glad it won all of your mentioned races! Congratulations! The point is, why don't you try posting in a positive constructive manner, and forego the depressing negativism as you constantly bash other people's choice of equiptment. And no, Dave, I don't posess multiple personalites, just a mutual dislike along with many of the rest of us here on this forum, for all the negative and unconstructive BS and banter that you seem to dearly love to slather all over us. I'm glad you love your DS...It's probably a great bike. Just not for me or any of us that enjoy our Raptors and find them quite reliable overall, I might add. It's been good talkin to ya, Davey. Now please, rejoin your beloved Bomber forum and relieve us of your presence here. A word to the wise is sufficient.

I like more the DS because it's heavy duty, stable, well suspended...which are all the downsides of the Raptor...weak, weird suspension (maybe because it's too short/narrow), too short...and on the other side, the Raptor is light, has reverse...a user friendly machine.
If I had the choice between those 2...I'd get the DS, simply because it's more stable when the going gets fast...

Depends on where you live.
The Raptor is 2 for 3 in Mag shootouts, ATV Sport did give it
Second place.
The Raptor did win BITD and Score races in the Desert, those races
are between 250 and 300 miles.
At the 4-stroke ATV races at Glen Helen, Raptor riders won both TT's and
one MX pulling holeshots in all events, yes DS650's were present but they
did not do well
In GNCC races the Raptor is doing allright, Chris Crump managed 2
3rd places, I think that is the 1st time a 4-stk has ever made the Podium.
(In GNCC ATV competition, I may be wrong)
In open B, Faulk pulled 1st in the first 3 races and according to the
combined lap times did so convincingly.
The Raptor won a long desert race in Austrailia
The DS has yet to even place in the top 10 in any GNCC event.
Yamaha pays off all the MAGS, thats good to know but why has that failed to be
of any assistance to any other models? the only other one
who has done well is my namesake 00 Kodiak, in the Mag shootouts.
The way Dirtwheels nitpicks Yamahas and glosses over other makes
that payoff theory doubtful
The DS has won BAJA, Roof of Africa, Numb Bum, and South Africa.
For Desert riding it has NO EQUAL(in my opinion), and despite
what some may say it dose work in Woods/Trail riding.
For Top Speed they are near equal, that conclusion was reached using
Cell Phones and Stopwatches.
Accel goes to the Raptor, but not by a great margin
Handling depends on what you like, I favor the Raptor, others like the DS.
Suspension DS for its travel, but for action again my opinion Raptor.
As you can see in live in MN(North Shore area) ie; tight woods,
Steep winding(although not that big)hills,
I feel the Raptor is the better choice.
While someone out in AZ,NM(and alike areas) will most likely choose the DS.
Good Luck

About the mags being paid off. For the most part that is BS.
Before the Raptor or DS came out everyone was saying that Honda was
paying the mags off because it was always coming up first place.
There was nothing really out there to compete with it what else is going to win. Now the Raptor and DS are out and depending on who you talk to
they all have there +'s and -'s. Later
