i bought an 88 warrior yesteday and it runs fine except it clicks really loud. i think its the valves, i already checked the timing chain tensioner and that seems to be fine. how much would a dealer charge to adjust them? what are the specs to adjust them? also...i can start it up and ride it for about 10 minutes then it just dies and wont start until i wait about 15 minutes. i think its electrical but not sure. let me know what you think

If it makes you feel better, I have a 2002 Warrior and it clicks too. Already.
Dealers have told me that the 350 engine is naturally noisy and not to sweat it. Definately get your valve clearance checked, and if it quiets it down, great.
If not, I wouldn't worry too much.

I think the Yamaha 350 is noisy in the top end. I have two friends with Warriors, I have one, and I used to have a Wolverine. They all sound like they are going to come apart.

My friends are 89's and they ride the hell out of them, no problem.

Good luck.

I used to have a 2000 warrior, bought it brand new. It took all of about 3 weeks before it started ticking. It ticked the entire time I had it, with no other problems. And I'm sure its still ticking now. As for it quiting after 10 minutes, I don't know what that could be.

On any year Warrior, if your top end is ticking the valves need to be adjusted, they are too loose. You are also loosing power if the valves are ticking. Hey Mike, your problem shouldn't be electrical because it would do it all the time. Sounds like your problem happens when the quad warms up. That's why after you let it cool down it starts up again. Check to see if your fuel line is resting against anything that would get hot. Another problem could be your float bowl. If fuel is flowing into your float bowl too slowly after you run it for awhile it will run out of fuel, When you leave it sit the float bowl fills up and it will run. Take the float bowl off and turn the petcock to the on position and see if you have good fuel flow. If not check the fuel line or maybe the petcock. Your needle may be sticking also. How does the quad stop running when it quits. Does it just die, or does it sputter? Let us know.

sorry that i left that out..it will just die right out, even sometimes when im on mid to high throttle. i checked the gas flow, its fine, i figured it might be elecrical because someone did touch the wiring at one time on it. my friends XR200 used to run perfect but then after a period of time it would do the same and just die and not want to start again until he pushed it home and let it sit a few hours. it turned out to be a faulty kill switch, he replaced it and it ran great since. ive also had some people tell me that the valves being noisy and the timing possible being off by a little would cause it to stall over time and then work fine after it had time to cool off.
