Well I broke my wrist on 9/01/01 and just found out that it was broke on Friday. I hit a rock with my front left tire which stopped the quad and sent the left side of the handle bars jolting towards me. It bent my wrist back and BAM!. We had been riding for about 1 1/2 hours straight at high speeds on rough terrain and my arms were getting tired. I think fatigue had more to do with it that anything. I went to the Doc today and he said that my choices are as follows:
A: cast above the elbow for 6 weeks and then another cast below the elbow for 6 weeks!
healing time = 12 weeks
B: insert a screw! healing time 3 to 4 weeks
I'm going with B. This really sucks! I can't believe that it took 3 doctors and 4 weeks to find the break. The emergency room said it was a sprain. The bone doctor said he thought it was broke but did not know for sure and sent me to hand surgeon. The hand surgeon did an MRI and said yes its broken and here are the options.

Been there! On new years eve, 1999, I crashed on my kx250. I broke both the ulna and the radius at my left wrist. The ulna was a clean break, but the radius broke in 3 places right at the joint. I had 3 pins put in, which stayed in for 8 weeks or so. It really wasn't that big of deal, once I got over the thought of it. On June 30 of this year, I crashed on my trx250r and broke my right humerous, arm flapping in the breeze and all. I could have had surgery, which meant having a rod put right thru the middle of the bone, but I chose to avoid that. I spent 10 weeks in a cast, and am looking at 4 - 6 months before I can do any serious riding. If I had it to do over again, I would have had the surgery, and been riding already!

Funny you should mention "the correct wrist". When I got to the hospital the paper work said right wrist. I quickly pointed out that the problem was with my LEFT wrist. He put two pins in it instead of the screw, and said I would be looking at 5 to 6 weeks. Still better than 12 weeks. Now to prevent this from happening again I was thinking of installing the Denton steering stabalizer and going to a 22" front tire to help get up and over the rocks. I think I'm paranoid since this happen the way it did. If I had broken it tring some crazy stuff then I could say "well I just won't do that again without more practice". Also do you think that a set of aftermarket bars with a better bend would help? It seems with the stock bend your arms are resting lower and at an angle while riding.
Ridnwarrior,
I hope those ribs get better soon, It SUCKS not being able to ride. My brother and our friends go out and it kills me to set at home. My wife is ready to load her quad and go without me and I'm not sure thats a great ideal. HA HA
