YukonRon,yes I have the 589's mounted on the stock rims with no spacers they fit fine no rubbing.I usually have a set of after market rims to mount my tires but their were none available with the right offset for the rear of the bike,I sold my 27" mud bug's mounted on ITP black & chrome rims that I had on my previous Grizzly ,with the ITP rims & tires I had to reverse the rear rims to get sort of an offset but it did not look so good and it rubbed on the front part of the fender when the suspension would flex.

grizzrick,
one last question, how much did you pay for them? and where would you recommend me buying them. I am planning on getting 27x11x12 in the rear and 27x9x12 in the front. rocky mountain atv has them for around 80 bucks. Thanks again for the reply.

PrairieDust,
I own both machines and I can tell you, with assertion, the Grizzly has less of a battle with the rocks, with the increased ground clearance, than that of my new Prairie. I'm not as feerless, I hate to say, on the Prairie with the technical stuff, as I am with the Grizz.
However, the Praire throttle response is awesome, as is the EBC. Both machines have their pro's and con's and both are good...it's a toss up, but the 650 does lose the ground clearance war, I hate to admit.
Regards,
Bob

Hey HomerS I priced a Grizz a few weeks ago in Truro ... 9800 + tax. The salesman said that was rock bottem and I never called around like to Pro in Dartmouth. I am a bit torn between the 650 and 660. I seen my first 650 in action last weekend. I loved the bike, but it got towed out twice. Once in a hole no one got through, but (gulp) an HO did get a bit further before the 650 came along. The second hole a Wolverine with Mudrunners made it through, but the 650 didn't. One thing I noticed about the 650 though is it never sounded like it was working hard. Awesome machine. I have been leaning towards a Grizz, but I just can't decide. Anyway I have been told that the 650 is $800 more than the Grizz by a die hard Kawi friend. I haven't checked myself though. I am still waiting to see a 660 in action. The dealer didn't have any, just a customer's when I was there. I think a person would be happy with either one.
PrarieDust ... glad you like your 650. They are nice. Where did you get yours? Also it is true about the independant suspension ... it has it's place, but if you want the clearence you have to stiffen the rear shocks. I know it is the same on my old King Quad. They have little clearence as it is. All I do though is just drive the wheel over something if it looks like is going to hit.
Good to see other people from NS in here!

showar94,
I traded a set of 4 year old 36" Buckshots for my Titan's at a local tire shop. Before I got into 4x4 quads, I used to do a lot of 4 wheeling with my pickup. Since I've gotten into riding quads I haven't really done any 4 wheeling with my truck, so I traded my mud tires for the 589's. They wanted $132 each for them, which is WAY to much, but that is full retail price. If you can get them for $80, go for it. Thats a good price for a great tire!

Thanks Wileys.
Somebody told me that Adventure motors in New Glasgow was selling the 650 for $8995 + Tax. That and PrairieDust's price with trade in made me figure a Grizz would be comparable. There may be fewer of them available though so it may stay higher for a while.
When demand comes down or supply goes up I think these machines will settle around $9k. As far as I can tell I think the dealer still makes about $700 at that price so that it still a pretty good price for them.
As for ground clearance, I think it can really help in mud if you have two equal weight machines. That said, lighter machines with good mud tires seem pretty good too (like the Wolverine and Rancher). I have read that the Rancher (or Fourtrax 350 to us Canadian boys) is very good in both snow and mud.

HomerS, I got my 650 at Adventure motors three weeks ago and paid $9500 with a warn winch instead of the superwinch that kawi was putting on them. They said they where selling the grizzly for $9800 but couldn't get any for a few more weeks. I called just about every yamaha dealer in Nova Scotia and couldn't get a grizzly anywhere at that time. I'm happy with my 650 so far.

gffsdg,
Dirt Wheels mag did a shootout a couple of months ago. The 650 is first off the line and holds that lead to the end of the drag. No extra distance is opened up between the two other than at the start. So top end-wise, they're probably equal. The quicker start for the 650 was attributed to the tranny.

Thanks Mudseeker. So I guess maybe my source was correct on the $8995? Since a Warn is about $550 with installation kit that would add that much to the price (Warn is a better winch). I assumed that the Grizzly would be the same price, but I guess until more are available they will inflate the price. Thanks for the info. I really don't think the Grizz is worth $800 more than the 650.
