Shifter Linkage w/MX Boots?
#1
Just wondering how many of you have had problems with adjusting the shifter for MX boots? I just picked up a set of boots and of course they are still pretty stiff. I adjusted my shifter up quite a bit, but the adjustment screw isn't long enough. I figured that I could throw in a longer adjusting screw or buy a billet shifter lever. Anybody else run into this same problem?

Yeah, ran into the same problem. I have a size 13 foot too, which doesn't help things. I went down to the local yamaha shop, and got the shift linkage from a Yamaha Warrior and put that on. It's quite a bit longer. That seemed to do the trick.

You can always rotate the part that sits on the shift rod. I rotated it clockwise (I think it was clockwise) one tooth position.. gives you alot more up clearence... so much I actaully had to screw the adjustment screw almost all the way in.
It's a 10mm bolt if I remember correctly... takes about 5 minutes

The warrior linkage is like $2. or you could go to any hardware store. find the section with bolts and screws...you'll find all diffrent sizes. price? $.30. Rotating the stock linkage will only raise it so far before it starts making contact with the plastic cover for the sprocket. also, if or when you decide to add nerf bars you will need the additional clearance of the warrior linkage. most nerfs mount to the front of the footpeg...robbing you of clearance between the footpeg and the shifter. Good luck.
