2001 Vs 2002 (Tires)
#1
I been looking around because I wanted to up grade my tires and have been thinking about widening the rear of the 2001 Raptor. I took a look at the spec for the 2002 to see what they did different. Can anybody confirm this?
2001
21x7x10 Fronts
20x10x9 Rears
48" wide rear
2002
21x7x10 Fronts
22x10x9 Rears
49" wide rear
Is this info true? Also does anyone have the Brand tire they are using on the 2002. I think it still is a Dunlop. Does anyone know the KT numbers for both the 2001 and the 2002?
I was thinking of getting 22x10x9 rears and using the Duglas 0.190 rims with the 1" offset. Any suggestions?

The 2002 still has a 20" tire. Here is a direct quote from the Yamaha web site "High-performance 21 x 7-10 front and 20 x 10-9 rear Dunlop radials with a specially designed tread pattern deliver superb, class-leading traction for razor-sharp handling in a variety of terrain and conditions. "

I thought that was the case. I couldn't find that on their web site under spec. I was sitting next to a 2002 this past weekend and they didn't look any bigger. Also they look like the same as to pattern and brand. The Austrailian web site for Yamaha stated the 22" ones.
Yamaha also made some other subtle changes to the 2002. Like they took the battery conditioner off the back of the bike and put it on the left side. The front rotor covers are now made of the same plastic as the skid plates instead of the metal with the holes. These are besides the obvious ones that they stated.

I really have not had a problem with the factory tires. When they were brand new they would stick real good but after a little wear they tend to spin and slide out which is how I dented a rim. I need something that grips a little better through turns. As far as flats go, I have been pretty lucky running in the desert. I did manage last weekend to get into a river bed and it dug a rock that sliced the sidewall but it didn't go flat. Looking at the *****, they seem a little chewed up.
