Warrior Carb Problem
#1
Hi Gang!
I have an issue I'm hoping someone can help with. I have a 2000 Warrior that is not idleing correctly. While the motor is trying to idle, it will start to die and then an audible click(bang) can be heard comming from the carb. The carb will actualy jump up and down and then the motor will rev to about 2k rpm. after about 2 seconds, the cycle starts over again. Any idea on what is making that noise? I removed the carb and cleaned it, and it appears to be functioning well. Why won't it Idle?
Thanx abunch!
2000 Warrior with WB e-series slip on, k&n filter, and 147.5 main.

I did not change the pilot, only the main. I will take the carb off again and check for any foriegn material near/in the pilot. Does anyone know where the sound is comming from and what's making the carb jump like that? Seems to be originating right from the carb and not from the engine. Does that carb have an internal exciter?

Your Warrior is Running lean at idle. This is a comon problem on our 95 Wolvy. I would suggest turning in your Air mixture screw about 1/4 turn. The popping you are hearing is the motor backfiring. This was also a problem on our 95 Wolvy. Since you replaced the main jet i would guess something was able to work its way into the nicks and cranies of the carb. Use some carb cleaner or electric motor cleaner to clean it out. Dont use WD-40 it will cause some gunning after a while.

Blaster96, thanx, the mixture advice seems to have worked. Now, I have another problem(sorry ) When going from idle to full open(instantly), the engine dies. A gradual progression to full is OK. I know this is a mixture issue, but can't remember which way. I placed the clip on the forth posision down on the needle, is that too much? I remember advice from others in this forum indicating that was correct for the 147 main. Any Ideas?
