Common Failures of Warrior Engine
#1
I have my second Warrior, and it runs great. I have been noticing metal in the oil when I change it, and today, it looks like there is part of a bearing carrier in it (looks like a small I). Is there a common bearing or some other part of the warrior engine/trani's that seem to go wrong? My old one had a stretched timing chain which caused a slapping sound - I believe that is a common problem - but this one does not have that. Any ideas???? I would like to hear of problems other peopl have had.
Thanks

I have a 96 Warrior. And if I were to estimate, I have app. 1500 hrs on this machine. It has never given me a lick of trouble, when I bought it new in 96, the dealer told me to keep the filter clean and the oil changed. It's worked very well, and has been a reliable quad. I will say, however, that I've replaced every bushing/bearing on this machined, except front wheel bearings. I have adjusted the valves once. This has been a very reliable machine. I have noticed, like you, that there has been some metal shavings in my oil when changed, but have never seen or heard of any common bearings going out. Sorry I can't be of much help, but just thought I would tell you my experience.

If you warrior is brand new, the metal shaving's could just be from the engine breaking itself in. The internal parts come too close together from the factory, so they wear down and leave metal flakes. If the problem does not go away after a month, something more serious may be going on inside your engine.

Thanks for the replys. It is a 1990 model, and the metal seems to be larger than shavings. The engine runs great, no noise, just some metal (steel - I used a magnet) shavings. Like I said, the one looks like a little I - which must be from a bearing. I guess I will keep driving it until I hear something.
Thanks,
Rob
