Stage 2 Kit, 148 150 mains, 4th clip on needles, air/mixture screw 3 turns out, cut snorkles, back 2/3rds of air box lid cut off, biggun full exhaust. Plugs are always lean, but that doesn't neccasarily mean anything. I've had it for about 8 9 months and have never adjusted the valves untill now, i got everything back together and test drove it and it runs way better than it ever has before, the thing is, my headers get red hot now, i noticed it when i left it runnin to go in the house for a few minutes, whats this mean ?

Mine does the same thing.I used to think it was lean so I put in 27.5 pilots that helped alot. It still does it but not as bad. I have been running it this way for almost a year so I can't hurt it that bad. You may want to check and see if it does it while riding, mine didn't.

You need the bigger pilots. When you let it idle, thats the carb circuit that you are running on. With the airbox mods, you are now flowing more air than the stock pilots are designed for.

this is a sign of an idle lean condition, so long as it is only the idle circuit you should be ok, you can turn your airfuel mix screw out 1/2 turn to richen it up a bit if you want to correct it, pilots dont come into play until you roll on the throttle (usually 1/8-1/4 throttle)
