Steel vs. Aluminum wheels
#1
I've used the .190 aluminum rear wheels on my Raptor and Warrior with limited sucess. I keep bending them badly on rocks, etc... I have not tried the "race rings" yet because they are pretty expensive ($140/wheel from ITP). Has anyone tried the ITP steel rear wheels ? The price is right but are they really more bend resistant that the basic .190s ? The stockers seem to hold up the best overall.

Well, I've done some research, and found some interesting facts:
9"x9" Stock OEM Yamaha Wheel: $260.81 x 2 = $521.62
9"x9" Douglas .125 Al : $ 36.99 x 2 = $ 73.98
9"x9" ITP Steel : $ 24.00 x 2 = $ 48.00
9"x9" Douglas .160 Al : $ 41.99 x 2 = $ 83.98
9"x9" Douglas .190 Al : $ 48.99 x 2 = $ 97.98
9"x8" Douglas Ultimate
Billet Center : $122.99 x 2 = $245.98
Billet Beadlock : $154.99 x 2 = $309.98
Conventional Center : $ 99.99 x 2 = $199.99
Conventional Beadlock : $129.99 x 2 = $259.98
9"x8" OMF Race Wheel : $114.99 x 2 = $229.98
OMF Beadlock : $179.99 x 2 = $359.99
8" ITP Beadlock : $132.99 x 2 = $265.99
9"x9" Hiper-Technology
Carbon Fiber, Dual BL : $190.00 x 2 = $380.00

Now, as you can see, and from what the others have told you, you get what you pay for. Obviously, a replacement stock wheel is outrageously priced. I think if I had the money to spend, I would get the Carbon Fiber Wheels, as each part is replaceable. And the steel wheels would be completely out of the picture. I'm not saying that everything is priced according to their strength-the steel wheels are the cheapest, because they are the least desirable.
Another issue is: whats the point in having a cheap set of wheels with an expensive set of tires and vice versa. If your gonna spend the money, you might as well buy a GREAT set of rims AND tires.
Hope this helps. Kinda bored so I though I'd try and help ya out.

Hey 54warrior,
Great info - thanks for taking the time to compile the list of prices - it's true that ya get what ya pay for but sometimes it takes a while to get out of the "cheap A$$" way of thinking....
Thanks again, Eric
