IMO I wouldnt own a Polaris just based on the problems and complaints I have heard and seen over the years. Remember this is just my opinion. So, I would do just like I did over 2 years ago and buy the Kodiak.

Polaris has no engine brake in the front wheels for going down steep hills.

you dont want front wheel breaking on steep downhills either, they will slow you down so much that you might endo and hurt youself or worse, dammage your quad!!lol

Not on steep hills. You shift your weight to the back and go down with little or no brake. I put my Kodiak in low range 4x4 and sometimes have to give it gas down hills. I've seen too many Polaris's go down STEEP inclines in an uncontrolled slide with the rider white faced. I've heard of doing an end over but they prolly hit too much front brake, i.e novice. Engine brake in the front wheels is the safest method of going down severe down hills. It's just like the Big Bear 4x4 in low range, it will crawl down super steep hills. The front engine brake is not so severe and gives just enough to allow you to crawl down hills. I know, cause a buddy of mine traded an 01 sportsman for an 01 Big bear 4x4. He gave up a lot w/ the sportsman just to have that engine brake in the front wheels. Where we ride some of the hills are really bad, worse going down then up.
