hi i just bought a used 89 warrior and today i was finally able to take it down a dirt road and i noticed a problem with it. when i shift into fourth the motor does not seem to want to rev any more and just stays at the same speed for about five seconds and then revs up to the redline so i can shift , this only does this from 4th to 6th. please help me

btw i have a fmf pipe
and running 12t front 41t rear
with 22''tires
the previous owner said that he did the jetting on it after installing the pipe.( do you need to rejet after putting on disks or spark arrestor (megamax 2 pipe)

jsut help me out a little, after 5 seconds does it quickly redline or slowly? this can help the determination,

it redlines farily quickly as it should when i hold it wide open

 

come on someone hast to know something, i checked the spark plug and it is fine so i cant figure it out. could it be the clutch? or maybe the twist throttle? but it only does it in 4-6

UPDATE::


i still havent figured it out yet, but i was able to do more testing with it on a paved road and i found that it doesnt only do it at full throttle, it does it anywhere from 1/2 to full throttle, and also it doesnt do as i said before of only having a slight hesitation, now in 3rd, if i hold the gas open it will rev up and accelorate so i shift gears into 4th, then it will not rev up for about 3-5 seconds, then rev up until i can shift again, but if i hold it at half throttle from 4th -6th then it will speed up,shift,stay at same rpm speed up,shift icant figure out the problem

i think it might be the airbox is not letting air in at times or,is there a problem with the carb?

or maybe the rev limiter is loose?

i dont know but i am supposed to race my friend but i canot ride at high speed for fear that i might break something in the motor

Concentrate on the rev limiter

 

Kinda sounds like a clutch problem which usually happens when the clutch starts to go it will slip more noticably in the higher gears at or past half throttle...

I reread your posts but still dont really get what your trying to say.
