Warrior Problems

First of all, my clutch is fubared, engine overpowers it when it hits power band in a high gear. Next up, it wont shift worth a crap when its hot, next up it gets hot too fast even though its jetted rich. I can run all day if i stay in mid range and dont run fast but 2 or 3 drag races or top speed runs and its hot as heck. Next up my engine makes a faint clacking noise, i think its the cam chain tensioner because i burn no oil, still full and clear looking after 3 months (i ride a good bit) and my valves are proper. Dosent sound like knocking or piston slap. I would go right out and buy that nice cam/piston/valve spring kit from alba but it already gets hot too fast. Anyone got any ideas on keeping it cool? its about 100 degrees here with 100% humidity. I think it would burn up if i hoped up the engine. I think im running a 148 main jet (im at sea level, my airbox looks like swiss chese and my pipe is baffle less.

Sounds like you're a prime candidate for an oil cooler.Since Yamaha didn't provide one,you have 2 choices. 1. Buy Four Stroke Tech oil cooler (95 bucks) which is claimed to drop your oil temp at least 50 degrees, which will make your motor a lot happier. 2. Get a Big Bear or Wolverine oil filter cover which has cooler line fittings on it, a boneyard cycle or car oil cooler(or buy a small car oil cooler new) and fab up your own. If you don't like messing with getting all the parts together, the FST kit is the one you want, just need to drill and tap a couple of holes for the hose fittings.

All you have done is overstress a 2WD BIGBEAR motor with a clutch.
You should have started out with a performance ATV instead of wasting so much money on the Warrior motor. Just my opinion.
Maybe you should consider the thought of selling it and move up to a Honda 400 or SuzukiZ400. It is a night and day difference between the two compared to a warrior for the small price difference.

Jakal,
the Highlifter cam is just a Web cam they sell with a piston / cam package, you can get the same one just about any where, 88 grind is low and midrange, a basic all around cam, an 84 grind is mid to top,for hi rpm running, like duning or racing,or really fast trail riding.

Jakal was just looking for some info, why did you feel the need to just come in here and flame his ride? I have my opinions also, but unless it happens to be of some help,I keep them to myself. You are welcome to ride whatever you like, and let us ride what we like,if you please.
