RCR, there's no need to insult me, remember, this is my first time taking apart the Rappy, I've done this on the DS650 a few times. Never changed cams, hope I can do it, but I can get help if I need it. Luckily this month's ATVSport magazine has an article on &quot;Top end assembly for four-strokes&quot; and the Rappy motor is the demo. So it tells me pretty much everything. Piston at TDC, line up the marks, tie up the chain, take cam out, take cam gear off old cam, and on new cam, replace cam, lobes facing down, and line up timing chain EXACTLY how I took it out. Sound good?

I would personally start your jetting at 145/150 and work your way around from there (I like to start low and work my way up). If you need any help with any of this fell free to ask myself, blueleader,swytak,zombie or gregv and we'll do what we can.

You have to degree a cam in at a minimum, theres no such thing as a drop in cam.

 

AdamsBad is right about the article,it helps alot for any first timer wanting to learn a little more. As a matter of fact the whole mag was good, got some nice sand dragsters in there. Velocity is also right about needing to do more than just dropping it in.

My Jetting is at 155/160 right now with my Full Yoshi system.

You wanna know what pisses me off? I just got back from the store, and bought a full set of metric Hex sockets, when I get home, I open them up, and get out the one that I need, and they stuck one standard sized hex socket in with all the other metric ones, and it is the one that I need! So now I have to drive back into town, since I live out in the country, and exchange it!

Zombie- you are riding on Jay's coattail. I talked to jay more than once about coming up to the Jamboree. I was discouged both times. A single carb 760 is not a rocket ship. Most fast DS guys went dual carbs months ago. Yes i believe that Jay has one of the fastest machines on here by FAR, but no faster than anybody else that has spent countless hours building there motors. Pretty much every one on here is using the same piston/cams/springs/rods/cranks. I and i am sure Jay have lightened many componets, changed tolerances improved on this and that. Flowed the heads, reworked and flowed again, reworked and flowed again. The biggest gain is in the head and hom much compression you dare run. I have talked to Jay many many times and i have done things in my motor he has not and he has done thing i have not. I look foreward to racing Jay cause we both have the same passion for winning and going fast at all cost. I am sorry my friend but i have made many trips to race and run with as many forum members as possible. I have made the trip to atoka, Little Sahara, Kennedale, rocky ridge. muenster, seven points and other places forum members have been. We have had forum members from Oklahoma, Arkansas, Loisanna, New mexico, and 1 from Indianna at my house to ride/camp. So do not pull that crap on me about going where the fastt quads are. I have opened up my place for anybody to ride, FOR FREE that wants to. I have built a full blown MX track for all to use, FREE. I am trying to organize a kids series at the mx track, For free. I have offered parts for free if a fellow rider needed and could not pay. I was selling a few parts on here at super low prices (dam near cost) until i got introuble with dbeck. ( Some of the big shops got pissed with i sold pistons that they get 250 and more for for 125 dollars and the list goes on.) You have come on the forum drunk preaching and slamming the trailer park. That i do not care, does not bother me, BUT you have Offeneded a great many that do live in trailers that are doing the best that they can. I have recieved many pm's about it. You were going on about being hammer saturday night and &quot;having the biggest member&quot; well at 300 lbs.............

It used to be about riding and having fun but know it is the Trailer park vs. the compound and it is not fun anymore. To many have set behind the keyboard hammering on each other with there used to be a common goal. I invite anyone that wants to ride to show up on the week ends at my house and play. Some of my best friends ride Bombardiers and we compete hard on the strip then share a story and a drink when the day is over. So in the end if you want to slam build a machine that can back up you keyboard.
