whats considered high mileage for atvs
#1
i have a 99 kodiak with 3500 miles on it according to the odometer. i know the odometer isn't very accurate but if it was, is 3500 miles alot on a atv. i know you can't get 100,000 out of em like a car, but what do you consider to be high mileage (average use) for a atv. thanks for the input

atcfan,
I don't think personally that's a lot of use but really it all depends on how well the machine was taken care of, or maintained.
I have seen such a wide scope of the abuse range.
You can have a two month quad that looks like it was dropped off a cliff and the go the other way and see models from the late eighties that look like new and maybe have been used little and or were maintained or used in a way such late they show little wear.
I would say its the owner how the quad ultimately ends up whether the mileage you state would be bad or good.

A guy I ride with has a 97 Foreman 400 with 1000 hrs and 8000 miles. Thats an average of 8 mph (with a lot of idling time) not very fast but this guy likes the slow technical stuff. The type of riding done with the atv in question should be concidered also, fast fire road riding will put on more miles faster but not necessarily more wear. Like highway vs city miles on a car.
