I would contact a company like trinity or a cycle shop near you and ask them about proper break in. hard to say what kinda damage till you get it apart, but definatly look at the cylinder walls for scoring and look at the piston for marks as well. now remember when you pull the plug to see how rich/lean it is you want the color of the plug to be a light chocolate color then bump one jet size richer to compensate for hard riding conditions. just my 2cents
