Default Liquid Cooled Yamaha Blaster?

Does anyone know anything about the DT200 Cylinder and Head swap on the Yamaha Blaster to make it liquid cooled? As far as i know the DT200 was a liquid cooled, powervavled, 200cc that shares basically the same bottom end as the Yamaha Blaster powerplant. I read somewhere that the Yamaha Blaster engine already has a waterpump that can be acessed? Is that false? Has anyone ever sucessfully completed this top end swap? If so does it work? I think he DT200 was sold in about every country except the US... does that make it difficult to get new oem parts? Any information regarding this topic would be appreciated. Thanks.

Contact dave at : <damnhillbilly@hotmail.com>

HE has been trying this swap for a few years now. Seems that there is A LOT more involved than we all thought.

There has been a kit out for a while that uses a different style head with water ports on it, no pump, it uses a thermo syphon system to circulate water through the head, heat rises, drawing the cooler liquid from the bottom to replace what circulates to the radiator. Not as efficient as a water pump, but a heck of a lot better than water cooling. Not sure who makes it, I'm sure some of the Blaster experts out there will be able to tell you.

Yes, I just recently exchanged emails with Dave. This is what he has to say after i asked him how things were going and if he had anymore information:

"Everything i know is on my site. I dont update it often simply because there
are no real updates. I have a few pics and such not on the site, but the
majority of it is online."

Blaster96-What are major mods are you doing to your blaster?

I have a YZ250 Engine that i was thinking about trying to make work in a blaster chassis? Any input? I know it would be a task...but it has been done. Thanks

I have an air cooled YZ490 motor that I almost bolted into a blaster frame. The bottom ends are almost the exact same size!

have a look at my page for more details, I hooked Dave up with the top end parts from a dealer in Canada, he's been sidelined with a blown stator for awhile and I think he's been pretty busy with other work related activites.

Most people couldn't tell the difference in the blaster engine and the 490 unless they were side by side. I was going to leave the frame stock and surprise people.

Finally I realized I was too young to die!
