Default A Polaris Question In The Yamaha Forum.... ?

Alright... heres the deal... My mothers got a Scrambler 400... So far I've put a HS pipe on it, clutch kit, 39mm Kehin, and a clamp on K&N.... I've taken the head and cylinder off lookin to get some more power outta that.... I'm not sure what I want to do with it yet... Should I bore it out ? Ritter said he could do a 416.... I was thinking something more like a 440 ? He also said I would have to run the billet head if i bored it out.... I dont understand why personally.....

Its definately gonna get the cylinders ported... Is Rick the best choice ?

Whats the advantages of the billet head over the stock head ?

If I dont get it bored, Is a new piston and hone a must ?

The Jones's are trying to keep up with the Jones's... What can I say ?

Hot Seat does offer a 440 kit that is rated to put out H.P. numbers in the low to mid 70's.

HPD has a kit that is advertised with H.P. numbers in the low to mid 80's. The only problem here is that you have to buy he entire kit, most of which you already have.

Are you sure your carb isn't a 38mm instead of a 39mm ??

I would suggest going with the Billet head and a 12:1 dome if you want to run Premium pump gas. Go with the 14:1 if you don't mind running race gas. You can get either the trail or race porting.

We have a 400 with the HotSeat Trail Ported Eliminator kit rated at 63-65 H.P.

It sounds like your close.
