I am getting a digital camera for Christmas and was planning on taking a few pictures of my wifes quads modifications. I know some people have been very curious about the rear shock swap I did. I have the week after Christmas off and will do it then.

Thanks for the tip mandrake. I'm going to order the K&N filter this week. Now If I could only get that carb problem fixed.....

I'll try and post some pics after I get the filter installed.

Thanks for all the info guys. I bought a 150 this week, and talked to the dealer about all of these things I learned. I got a great deal, and will be picking it up Friday morning. I'll psend all day Friday doing the Loctite and mods you guys suggested.

I have same problem starting in cold temps. it starts then quits... finally it will idle(when battery is almost dead). then have to let it warm up for at least 5 min then it will run ok, not real great.

pics to any mods done would be a great idea. these quads are ok for the price. would be a little nicer to make it even better with the help of other yamoto 150 owners' inputs.

We took ours out today into the mountains in Queen Creek. Even at 1/4 throttle, it was a blast. Nothing shook loose, and my son did great for his first time. The shocks are like a brick, thats gotta be the next upgrade for me. I'm thinking about sticking with a Yamoto 150 for me as well, since it carried my 210 lbs pretty easy.

These quads are great for a cheap way to get the kids into the atv scene but as the old saying goes you get what you pay for.If I were you I would spend a little more money and get a jap quad. These things will definately not hold up to any adult riding, just take a look at the foot pegs the next time you mount it.Little things like that are all over these machines. But hey, thats just if I were you and im not.my 3.5 cent's.

I just got back from the desert with a bunch of friends. They let me drive a 250 and a 500. The 150 is definitely too small for me. I'll have to keep my eye out for a good deal on a used 250 or 350. Big difference in ride when your taking jumps or even just ruts in the trail.

For those who wish to ride the 150 in colder weather (like my boy), I just fire up the shop heater and let it blow hot air into the front of the quad for about 5 minutes. Leave it back far enough that it doesn't melt the plastic and it will start and run pretty good. It was low 20's here today and he wanted to ride. I was out of propane for the space heater so I just put a halogen light under the front end, glowing on the engine. It took about a half hour this way, but it worked. The only solution I can think of is rejetting the carb for winter, but we don't all have the technical ability to do this. These things are kind of a pain and I hope somebody comes up with a solution soon too.

The best solution is move to Arizona. We were just out with T-shirts on. But the dust will kill this engine. We were just fooling around for about an hour,a nd the air filter is caked with dust. Even on the other side of the filer there is dust. I'll have to order the K&N on Monday.

I have a yamato 150 , right out of the box, cold temps all week before and during startup. Temp hovering around low 30's. First time start, the ATV turned over and ran for maybe 20 to 30 seconds. Did it a second time, then nothing..kept kranking and couldn't get it to start. Gave up on it after a couple hours.

Next day, same thing : 36 degrees, started for about 45 seconds then died. Used starting fluid in the air intake, got it to start, will idle for 15 seconds or so. With this method and exsessive throttle usage to keep it running, was able to warm it up and spin around the yard a couple times, though will not idle, shuts right down when let off gas, carburator is very bogged down.

Any carb experts out their with some ideas??
