Default Yamoto 150cc Review

Hi everyone,
I'm a new member here, and a new Yamoto 150 owner. I have found quite a bit of good info here, and want to thank you all!!! Before firing my quad up for the first time, I had a Uni filter and changed some of the bolts out for stronger ones thanks to you guys. Also, I had a heck of a time getting mine started, and it turned out to be one of the carb tricks you guys talked about... now it runs great!!!

One other thing, mine came with the exhaust valve misadjusted so that the valve never went fully closed, and consequently the engine would not start. Has anyone else had this problem from the company??? I actually found that problem before I found the sticking part in the carb.

Does anyone know the proper specs on setting valve lash on the engine? I just guessed, and must have done fairly well because it runs great.

Thanks again, everyone!

Welcome to the forum josephfrank, Yes there is a lot of information here. I checked the valves on my wifes quad after about 5hrs run time and the intake was loose about .008, and the exhaust was too tight by 1/2 turn, never did figure out how much that was but amazingly it did not affect performance much at all. I set mine at .004 cold, Tried .002, then loosened them up a bit, I have never been able to find anyone who could find me that spec.

Default Yamoto 150cc Review

Hi,I am reading everyones review on this quad(Yamoto150) and i am hearing more bad than good.I am in the process of picking up my new quad(Yamoto 150) in the next couple of days. This quad will be for my 12 year old son who only weighs 100lbs.I have some concerns from reading all of these reviews:
1. Should i take apart all screws and bolts and Loctite them? There are a lot of comments that state bolts fall out after riding for awhile.
2.Should i change the air filter with a K&N and if so what is the part# of the one that would fit this quad.
3.Is the air box assembly as bad as everyone states it is?
4.Thgis quad will be driven in mud and wet environments. How does it hold up with wet conditions.
5.I also heard that the shocks are not very good also.Everyone states to change to the Suzuki LT160 shock.

Your review seemed to be one of the few that were positive I hope i will have no problems. I would appreciate it if you can supply me with some feedback.I am calling from the great white north up in Alberta,Canada.

Gino.

Hello;

I am awaiting a new carb from Patriot now, I have the " engine won't keep running problem." Does the main jet needle on your carb have a hole in it?

I also had the sticking "diaphram " in the carb.

Where is the exhaust valve? I would like to check that out while I awit my new carb.

Thanks

Default Yamoto 150cc Review

Hi All

I new here, and all the way from Ireland. This is a great resource, and well done to all that have contributed. I bought 2 Yamoto 150cc bikes for my kids this Christmas. I have been having all the fun mentioned all over this site, loose bolts. Crown nuts that the split pins wont go into etc.

I now have a problem with each bike that I'm hoping someone may be able to help me with.

Here's the first. I came home last evening to find a destinctive the smell of gas. I discovered that one of the bikes had leaked most of its fuel on the ground. Today I remove the tank, and carb, but did not find anything unusual (I did not open the carb. bit too advanced for me unless absolutly necessary). I put everything back together, but an hour later and fuel is dripping on to the ground again. I opened the air intake, and discovered that the wonderful filter, the piece of foam is soaked with fuel, but I cant see where its coming from. My guess is from the carb, but I don't know. Any help would be most welcome.

My second problem is also a leak on the second bike, but this time it's break fluid, from the rear disk break. I have removed the break housing, but again I can't see where the leak is occuring. I have to wait until tomorrow to get break fluid, and there is not enough in there to determine where the leak is. Again if anyone has any suggestions with this one I would be most greatful.

We have had some great fun on these bikes when they are running ok. Like some other people, they don't like the cold too much, but I have never had any difficulty starting them, they just don't like to idle on their own until they are nicely warmed up (36 or so here at the moment)

Thanks for any help in advance.

Answered this under your other thread, here is short version.
1) Absolutely, and change the stock oil before ever starting engine.
2) I am going with a UNI.
3) I have not had the same problems other's have had.
4) Good question, let us know, I am worried.
5) Stock shock's are horrible at best.

No the main jet needle doesnt have a hole in it, where is the hole in your's? The exhaust valve is under that cover in the front of the engine.

For the fuel leak I would suspect the float is set too high. You will need to disassemble the carb to adjust it, sorry. For the brake fluid leak I would tighten the 2 bolt's that hold the caliper together, there is a small seal inside that seals the 2 halves together. Also check the bleed screw to make sure it is tight.

Hi DecDug,

As far as the gas leak is concerned, it is almost definitely the float sticking... you will probably have to take the carb apart to get it fixed... and another thing to look at is that if the carb flooded out like that, you probably have gasoline in your oil, because it probably leaked into the cylinder and then leaked by the piston and rings and into the crankcase. If it did, and you don't change the oil, you will probably destroy the engine due to lack of lubrication.

If you are lucky, you might be able to tap the carb bowl with a screwdriver and get the float to unstick. It has worked for me in the past on different engines.

As far as the brake problem, I would have to see it to give any advice.

Good luck!

The leaking brake fluid is caused by bad rubber o rings. If you split the brakes you'll find 2 o rings sealing the gap where the fluid goes through to the other side.I had the same problem with 1 of my yamotos.Just go to your local hardware store and find the closest match, mine has been working fine now for 3 months and no leaks at all.
