Default Yamoto 150cc Review

Has anyone seen or owned a 200cc air cooled not water cooled Yamoto ATV. I am looking at getting two for me and the wife. The 150s seem a little small I only weigh 135 so I figured the little extra power should be just enough. I just cant seem to get any hard answers on these 200's. The dealership tells me one thing and then yamoto sends me specs that looked the exact same as the 150cc. I am so confused. I know spending 2600 bucks on two atvs is a lot less then for the name brands but it is still 2600 bucks. Just want some feedback before I put the money down. Thanks

RMMan317:
I would have to disagree with some statements in your post. And this is not to defend Patriot in anyway!!! I just would like to tell you my experiences with them.
#1 I did like Yamoto better when Jason was running the company only because you had a much more one on one relation ship with the company, and he would look to help you that much more.(Aslo because he was looking to improve his company)
#2 Any company wants to jam products down your throat! Hey all they want to do is sell units.
#3 The 110 ATV in 2004 and 2004 you are right the Trans were no good!!! But they have changed it in 2005.
#4 Over all the bikes are 100% better in 2005 with the changes Patriot has made. The 70's run great. I never had a problem even with them in 2004. Now with the new front suspensions and the 1 gear for neutral I have had nothing but great luck and satisfaction with them.
#5 It is totally not true that anyone with a mail box can become a dealer. Under the new dealer agreement you must have a licensed shop with X amount of insures and a lot of other criteria's to meet! You might get a dealer pack but read it and you will see it is not that easy at all. Wish it was I would save a lot of money then!

Over all I can understand you might have had some bad luck with the company but I have been selling them since they came to the U.S and there is no one that can tell me that the 2005 units Patriot has but out do not kill the older units!!!
Again this is just my dealing experience!!!
And to set up I think its up to about $20,000 to $30,000 for you 1st order. 2 units is not happening!!!!
All The Best.

Default Yamoto 150cc Review

Hi John,

I haven't touched an 05' other than the 70's (which are now 90cc motors due to the motor problems that were so common). We had so many problems and lost so much money with the 04's that at this time I have no interest in moving them. I truly hope they HAVE fixed the units. Call me a sucker but when somebody brings back a unit for carb problems and the like (a common issue among the units) I couldn't ethically charge them labor to repair something that was never right from the factory.

I was told about the $20K buy-in ...... then 2 weeks later a company called Bikes Unlimited ( a garage based operation less than 1 mile from our shop ) was dealing Yamoto. I've known the guy for awhile and I can guarantee he didn't front no $20K ($4K maybe) so unless they are suddenly tightening the leash they are not sticking to it. They really shot my confidence in the product and the company down. With Winspeed I was a kid in a candy store... good product, good prices, good people. Also - I have absolutely no problems with a company trying to sell units.... but when they are knowingly moving DEFECTIVE units then I have a problem. 8 out of 10 - 110's ordered in for xmas had bad rear ends. When this was discussed with Dan and Joe I was basically told they had to move it because it was existing stock from Winspeed. Now there's a great way to **** off your dealers... send them a bunch of junk that they cant sell. Out of 30 units moved over Christmas I took 11 of them back. More have since had problems now that kids are getting a chance to put time on them.

Dan has spoken to me about you on a couple of occassions John.. he said you serve on the dealer commitee and I thinks thats great. Hopefully you can help turn that place around and help them get their sh*t straight. I spent well over $200K with them since the inception and that didn't seem to mean anything.

We have since moved onto Etons and while more expensive Ive never been happier with a product.

Greg

Like I said I liked it better with Jason my self. And am not defending Patriot because that's not what I am here for!!! Maybe they set the dealer up for less money! Anything is possible I guess. (Money makes the world go round)

110's I stop selling them at the end of last year because of the trans and the rear ends. I might of just had some better luck then you with the bikes I got. Im not against what you are saying you sound like your not just bashing. You had your problems with them and "a" if I had the same troubles I would have dropped them to. Maybe if you talk with Dan and check out the 2005 units he might do the right thing for you to win you back, if you even want that. But good luck with whatever you are selling!!!! You sound like a guy that cares about what you sell and your costumers and I can fight with you about that!!!!! The world needs more of that!!!

Welcome to the forum crazyafrican,I went and looked at the yamoto200 and it looks ok. Not too sure about recommending it without actually seeing one. Also I have heard that yamoto doesnt want quads sent to the customer to be assembled. They want them asembled by a shop some where. couldnt tell by the ebay ad if that was included in the price.

I bought my son's 150 Yamato off of Ebay. Drove up to Illinois to pick it up and assembled it at home back in Dec. 2004. I believe the guy's name was Mike (although I think this was his American name) and he was very helpful. When we got the yamato home, the headlight was cracked. I sent a picture and he had two new headlights in the mail that week.

Didn't get a chance to make the mods to my son's fourwheeler. Too busy with yard work. Will keep you advised when we do.

Hi John..

Not bashing... venting if anything. It gets frustrating when you can't believe in or support the product you are selling.

Baumgata:

Yamato is a different brand out of Harrisburg Illinois - same product but a different company (far smaller as Ive been told the guy has a normal job and sells them outside of that). For the most part many of these units come from Chongquing or Loncin and are hit with a new label. If I wanted to dump $60,000 I could have the units brought in under "Gregs ATVs". Glad to hear he got you your headlights though!

I just figured out that the 200cc atv I am looking at is actually a ya-moto and not a yamoto. Yes apparently there is a difference. Does anyone know about ya-moto?

Other than the pictures, No I have not ever heard of them. There is a bunch of people selling chinese quads under different names using a lot of the same components. If you are very handy with a wrench I might give it a try. if not I would probubly passon it. My wifes yamoto is nice now but needed a lot of tlc/time. Click on the camera below my nick nmae to check it out.
