Thanks for the info Knarf, It is good to hear from a dealer who rode dirt bikes a bunch. What exactly is wrong with the 150 front suspension?

I cant possible read all 400 replies to this post, so I may have missed a few things, but here is how I fixed the bumper issue:
1. made 2 new brackets out of 1" angle, about 1.5" wide. (drilling required)
2. mount these to the top shock mount, longer bolts are needed.
3. mount top bumper bracket to new mount.
4. use flat stock (measure and drill to necessary length) and mount bottom bracket to (top) factory mounts. Mine is mounted so that the bottom of bumper touches the frame and limits movement.
This moves bumper considerably and no more clearance issues, safe? Junior has had one major, near head-on crash (with no injuries, thankfully) and the bumper was slightly bent, but held its own, so to speak. It seemed better than cutting the bumper to me.

I just went ahead and cut part of the lip off. It looks fine and was pretty simple to do.

We also cut the bottom lip off of my son's 150 bumper. Looks fine. Just a quick note to anyone ordering parts. Patriot is updating its website. You'll have to call and get the price of the part. Once you have the price, go back to their website and enter the amount there. We ordered a-arms this morning...$55.

Default Yamoto 150cc Review

I've got a Yamoto 150. I've got a question about the carb. I discovered that the stock air filter box is pretty crappy. I got so frustrated with it that I siliconed it shut at the seal, knowing that I'd have to break the seal every time I wanted to clean the filter. It was just such poor quality that I was worth sealing until I'd get a K&N filter.

I've got the K&N on it now, but the filter allowed lots of dust to enter the carb and clog the jets causing the ATV to run about half it's speed at full throttle. I took the carb off and cleaned the entire thing. I cleaned the jets and everything very thouroughly. As I assembled the carb back on the ATV again and I've noticed that it is performing great again, the only drawback is that it just doesn't seem to have the same throttle response time as it did before the filter let all that dust in. I really cleaned this carb too. I cleaned it two other times thinking "Oh, I just didn't clean it enough..." but after 3 deep cleanings I'm begining to think there is something else causing it to act funny. I know the carbs have been a problem but that's all I can tell.

It boggs for 1 second when you give it gas, after bogging, it then increases in speed. The top speed seems to have diminished by about 20% too. The choke is electric, but could it be clogged somewhere, somehow?

Any suggestions?

Im worried that all that dirt that went thru the carb wore out the engine. I would try to adjust the fuel screw on the side of the carb on the left. I would turn it out 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn and see if it helps the hesitation. As for the reduced top speed I would check that you are getting a full cable pull since hooking back up the throttle cable.

I put the K&N on my 150 and have not had a problem with dirt getting in the carb. I've taken it off a couple of times just to check it and it looks clean. My throttle response seemed to improve with the change to the K&N. I have had lots of problems with the electric choke. I ordered a new carb with a manual choke which will be here today. I will let everyone know how it turns out after I put it on.

As far as ordering parts, I was told by Barbara (Patriot) just to free text on the order form what part I need and they will send it. The last 3 parts I ordered I didn't put a part number or a price and they were shipped the next day.

The 150 came with shocks that are too long. Mine came with 13" shocks (looks like they should be 12" max) and they have way too much travel. There may also be other corrections I was told so shocks alone may not be the permanent fix. Thats all I know right now. Knarf

Default Yamoto 150cc Review

FYI-Well we took our quads out in some rough territory. The trails were not passable with a 4x4 truck, too narrow, these trails were for a quad only. Some sections were too rough for the younger riders and we had to coach them or run next to them or even drag them what ever. For Yamotos, I rode the 150, my cousin rode the 200, my son the 110 and my other cousin rode the 70. The 70 and 110 rider wieghts averaged 90lbs. It had just rained so the trails were washed out and like red grease here in NC. We rode a several mile loop and had only a few minor problems with the new machines. The 110 lost some decorative chome on the exhaust, on the 150 one tire lost its bead which I was able to fix probably my fault for not inflating enough and the 200 shifter bent inward toward the case making it difficult to shift up. The shifter bent out easily, it wasn't loose and was fine after that, also on the 200 the thing stalled a lot. Come to find out later the cheesy hose clamp clip on the fuel line attached to the carb had slid down and was interfering with the choke. The choke on the 200 is manual and is hard to reach. The fuel line does not have a shut off valve and it looks like there is not a place to mount one easily. But we did get this bike running well and it runs strong. I found it fun to ride. The 70 ATV was very reliable and never required adult attention, same with the 110. However the 110 did come up with a squeal in third gear the next day. It sounded real bad and I was worried, I checked with Patriot regarding this and they said to keep riding it and it would break in and go away. They also said to make sure you are using high quality motorcycle oil which I was. Well I did exactly that, rode it on some private roads for about 20 mins and it went away never to return. My son has been riding it ever since then and the noise has not returned. I think these bikes for the most part ran good. Don't get me wrong, you have to check everything, locktite anything that loosens up, and correct some minor assembly line nonsense. But that's what a dealer does. The bikes with chains like the 200ATV, you really have to make sure the rear end chain bolts are tight or they will move when you apply the brakes. Brakes worked well on all bikes no problems there. I use Amsoil Motorcycle oil in all my bikes so if something goes I know it is not the oil to blame. All differential fluids were changed as well. I rode a Kawasaki Bayou 300 that day to take my tire home for bead sealer and the compressor, that bike rides smoother no doubt but then again the tires are huge and baloonish compared to the Yamotos. Besides that had a few headlights blow but they are easy to fix once you get them, Patriot is looking into getting higher quality bulbs that will withstand more abuse. One last note on the 150, it ran very well smooth and had a good amount of pull on the hills, it will be nice when the front end gets resolved so I can sell it. The deep woods trail ride was educational, so now I know what to look for and I am sure I will learn more as time goes on. I just wanted to give you guys a report on my recent experience and impressions.
