Angry trouble shooting for js 400 jeanshee quad...

Yesterday i was riding bike everything worked fine except when i left my battery was down...so got a boost from friend...ok after riding for an hour or so the bike back fired and stopped....had a funny smell so i took the seat off checkek my battery and it was ready to melt...so hot that i had to pour water on it so it woulnt catch on fire....next thing had my gps plugged in and the gps kind of blew up....it cease working......so today i put brand new battery and still the bike wont start....so could someone help me regarding this. could it be the coil? Remi

I don't know anything about this quad. But one thing for sure - your charging system is *way* overcharging the battery for it to burn up like that. To get a battery cooking requires a lot of voltage across it (I'm thinking like 18 to 25 volts across a 12 volt battery). That same voltage would have been applied to everything else on the 12 volt bus (like your GPS perhaps).

You're going to have to fix that or you will quickly wreck your new battery too. I would unplug your regulator for the time being and keep your battery charged up with a motorcycle battery charger when the quad is not being worked on. Once the quad is running then the charging system can be looked at next.

Re: Not Starting:
Does the starter motor turn? If it does, do you have spark? Do you know how to check for spark?

Does your manual have a wiring diagram in it?
