I've given up at this point on the carb problem. It runs fine with the kids on there. I turned the throttle down now so it doesn't do it as much when I am on there. I guess it isn't getting as much gas or something so it isn't shutting itself off.

I'm more concerned with the sound that one is making. It sounds horrible and the other sounds good. I don't know where to start.

See if you can pin point where the noise is coming from. If you have a stethoscope that would be great if not try a long handle screwdriver just put the handle to your ear and the tip at different places on the engine while it's running. Listen up at the head, at the cylinder wall (left and right side), down at the crank case (left and right side), back at the transmission (left and right side). Let us know what you find.

I retract this statement. Today after more extensive riding BOTH four wheelers started acting up. They did the same thing. They both started overflowing with gasoline out of the carbs. Coming out the overflow line, the side of the carb and the air filter. I took one of them apart and couldn't see anything wrong. Any suggestions?

Sounds like the float is stuck open on both bikes. You need to pull both carbs and clear any debris in the float needle valve. When you reassemble the carbs you want to set the floats so they shut the valve when the bowl is full. You will see a little tang on the float pivot that the valve needle rides on. You can bend this slightly so as the float rises in the bowl it closes the valve instead of hitting the top of the bowl and holding the valve open.

After that inspect the whole fuel system, tank and fuel line, for debris. It would be a good idea to add a fuel filter while you’re at it.

After that you need to change the oil in both bikes. It’s very common when the bowl on these bikes overflow for raw gas to run into the crankcase and contaminate the oil. Considering the cost of a couple of quarts of oil verse an engine this is cheep insurance.

If you have any questions just ask.

I dropped them off at the dealer today for him to fix. I pulled off one of the carbs but I was having a tough time getting the carb opened. The screws wouldn't back out. So I called the guy and he said he would do it under warranty for me. He also said he would adjust the breaks for me.

That's great. I'm glad to here that your dealer is willing to do the right thing.

All to often I've read where Chinese quad dealers only sell the quad or want to charge for issues that occur soon after the sale that weren’t the customers fault.

Good luck and enjoy

Id put a good fuel filter on both of these when you get them back..

That is very impressive... most only warranty parts.

Just a quick update. The dealer got the carb fixed on both machines. Only problem is the one with the noise is going to require a new motor. He said he thought it was a bearing inside. Good news is they are covering it under warranty.

Hello Lynn,
I have three Tao Tao ATV that a guy gave me they run, but not really good. I would like to get those ATV manuals from you if it's not too much trouble. My email is nickscareer@gmail.com. My name is Nick Washington and I live in Texas. There are alot of these thing around here and most people give up on them after they have a few problems. I am learning to work on them and any help would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to your reply. Thanks and have a great day.
