please don't get offended at this next statement. but for us to be absolutely clear on the technical terms, please watch the spelling.
STATOR is a charging/triggering device, most of the time located on the right hand side of the engine near the flywheel area. one function of the stator is to keep the battery charged up. similiar to the function of the alternator. some folks refer to the stator as a magneto.
STARTER is the cranking device that turns the flywheel to turn the crankshaft to move the rod/piston to get the engine going. it takes battery voltage to turn it and it does not return the juice. it is a user of electricity.
the voltage regulator maintains constant voltage for the system.

yeah, some are mounted under the handlebars, near the solenoid, on the opposite frame of the solenoid. under the fuel tank, under the plastics near the headlight area. multiple places from multiple manufacturers. just look for the air finned metal with wires. some are "big", some are small-not nickel sized small, about the size of your computer mouse.

i would venture to say if you could find the time, you could post youtube videos of testing stators, CDIs, regulators/rectifiers and such and save yourself a lot of typing. the mods could make a video section of your stuff and make them a sticky. . because one thing i noticed about a lot of your posts is that you have to constantly repeat yourself. i presume you make it easy and do a copy/paste thing with your information. i just know you're a plethora of valuable information and i have learned so much and i do appreciate it!!!!! take care and we'll see ya on the next thread......to be continued, because it always is....
