I'm glad you got this running. You really perservered when you had multiple problems going on.

When you have multiple problems the complexity doesn't add - it goes up as some exponent power of the number of problems. A quad with 2 problems isn't just twice as hard to fix - it is more like 10 times as hard (or more). The degree of increased difficulty depends on how easy it is to separate the two problems into separate and independent test regimes.

I don't know why you had to reduce the air gap on the trigger coil. Perhaps it was always marginal. Remember that if all other problem were eliminated, and while cranking you exceeded the trigger threshold and got even one spark then the engine speed increases - making more trigger signal, making more spark, and so on. The engine starts up. But if you have other problems too...

If the remote module (when plugged in) keeps the quad from starting then it is bad. There is no install or learn procedure to go through. Note that if you unplug the remote you won't be able to shut off the quad with the ignition switch - you'll have to use the handlebar kill switch. Else the quad works as before.

Actually the quad shuts off normally, kill and key switch both shut it off. Go figure. Another problem that came up after the grandson was riding for a half hour was that the rear brake locked up. It appears that the brake cylinder wasn't lined up straight enough with the actuator rod that hooks up to the foot pedal arm! All bolts were very tight so it also came like this from the factory. You have to love the chinese quality. All is good with the quad for the moment, thank you again and thank everybody for this great site.
