Newbie here help needed
Hi there I have bought Yamato 110 dragon couple of questions if someone could help please.
How can I tell if it's a 2 or 4 stroke how can I know and check. Guy I bought it off had it in his garage for a few years and can't remember.
When the quad runs and idles the quad starts moving off itself without touching throttle I have checked the throttle cable and it's tight any ideas guys

Very simple to tell if you have a 2 or 4 stroke engine. If your engine has a dipstick for crankcase oil, you have a 4 stroke engine. If it does not, you have a 2 stroke engine.
A few things can make it try to go by itself.
1. Your throttle cable should have an adjustment somewhere along the length of it. On a 110 it will probably look like a long metal slotted nut. If you turn it it will adjust your cable to be slightly longer or shorter. For the problem you are having you need to adjust it to be shorter. On most that means you will need to turn it toward the right, like tightening a nut.
2. Most 110 carbs have the throttle cable that goes into the top. They have two slots inside the carb that holds the butterfly cylinder. They can be reversed or the spring in there can be worn. Take your air cleaner off and look into the back of the carb and make sure the black or gray butterfly is working up and down. Be sure it does come all the way back down when you let off the throttle.
3. If your idle adjustment is set too high, it will make it idle too fast and therefore will always try to pull, even when you are not giving it gas. On most of the small carbs the idle adjustment screw will have a visible spring on it. Turn it left to slow down the idle.

is it an automatic? is there a slotted stud with a nut on the side of the side cover of the tranny/gearbox? if so, that is your centrifugal clutch adjustment.....
click this hyperlink and see if your quad is like this one. if so, look at pg 12 for the clutch adjustment information.

in picture #3, take your kick off and remove the black cover. it appears to look like an automatic (CVT). we'll need to look at the clutch pulleys and belt to see what it looks like under there. you may have worn faces. just a guess cause i don't know much about your specific quad. just general information.

sounds like the clutch might be bad? If the idle is too high, the clutch will engage. However, I think those clutches engage around 2000 RPM's (unless there is a torque converter on it). I have a different quad, but it's probably got a similar carb. My quad will sometimes rev up real high out of nowhere. I have heard about this happening with these, but I haven't figured out the remedy yet. The carbs are pretty simple to take apart.
do you have an adjuster on the cable? you might try starting it up with the rear wheels off the ground (on a jack or cinder block) to mess with the throttle cable. there are also some things you can do to the carb (ex. jetting, etc), but i'm guessing you won't need to do any of that.
