Default eton yukon 150 "one spark" is causing me to lose my mind!

My son's eton Yukon 150 will only spark one time when the engine is first turned over. If I keep flipping the kill switch on the handlebar off and back on I can get it to start eventually. Also sometimes it will just die while sitting there idling. Sometimes it will start right back up other times it won't. Damn thing is driving me crazy! Any help would be very much appreciated!

My guess is there is a short in the switch. Can you take it apart?

This is quite a common problem with CDI ignition and nobody seems to have a positive answer. Some say cleaning the trigger pick up on the flywheel will cure it, others a new CDI box. I maintain a couple of Hondas with this problem and have never got to the root of it, owners get used to using the starter in short bursts, normally they fire up after two or three goes.

Saw a trick on and old TRX200 years ago. Had a one spark condition also. Guy I was working with took it and dropped it on the floor. Hooked it back up and it started! Needless to say we ordered a new cdi which solved the problem, but was impressed as to what happened. The shock just jostled the resistors around a little in the cdi I guess, enough for it to crank at least once for us.
