What's up with Alcohol anyway??
#1
I'm just curious. Everybody is talking about quads running alcohol. I've never seen such a thing where I live.
What does alcohol do, and how is it used? (Mixed with gas, 100% alky??)
And is it safe on the engine??

The reason most people run alky is because it is a lot cheaper than race gas. Alky is not mixed with gas, only with a top end lube and or nitro.
Also it makes your bike run a lot cooler. As far as being safe on the engine, as long as you take care of your bike it should be fine, AZSand has ran his bikes on alky for years.

KMduner is absolutely right.
Also when you switch to Alky you have to increase to size of your fuel jets to almost double, this is because ALKY has alot more Oxygen in it thier for you will need more fuel to compensate for it. This is GOOD and BAD, the good thing is that your Tuning of your engine is MUCH more forgiving, So tuning your carb everytime you change elevation is not needed as much for optimium performance. The down side is that it cuts your fuel mileage almost in half.
Like KM said, alky gives a slight increase in power(especailly in the low/mid range),and at the same time your quad will run cooler.

One thing to remember is that alcohol gets in your oil so you have to change it more often. I also use an IV bottle to run gas into carb before I put it up at the end of a ride. Alky will make the metal corrode so dont leave it in the carb. I tried it and loved it. I bought another flatslide to setup just for gas. Now Im selling it. I love the Alky. RWR has the jets in stock.
