Installing a Warn 2.5 winch, need help.
#1
I am currently installing a warn 2.5 winch on my Prairie 650 4x4. Instructions say to connect to a hot wire that comes from the key and only has power when key is turned on. What is the best way to get to that cluster of wires and which wire is best suited for that. If you have a pic that would help also.
Thanks for your time.

olpapa i connected to my auxillary outlet on yht left hand side of the bike (like the cigarett lighter) i tied into the red wire using the supplied splice pc from the warn winch package very easy to do and is only hot when i have the key turned on. just put the splice pc around the red wire and squeeze it together

Olpapa,
It's also a good idea to install a toggle switch on this power supply aswell.........this way....ya just switch the toggle on (aswell as the key switch) when you want to use the winch. This saves the solenoid being powered up at all times (when the key is on) which will give a longer solenoid life.

That solenoid being "powered up: is not a problem. The solenoid only does something when the in or out switch is commanding a change, ie when you hit the button..then the internal relay is energized providing power to winch...
