Default Wheels/Tires for P700?

I am considering ITP C-Series Type 4 Wheels with 26" Mud Lites. I ride a combination of woods trails with some pretty good mud. How much hardpack performance (including speed) will I lose with the aggressive tread pattern of the 26" Mud Lites? Do the Mud Lites wear well? Any other recommendations?

Tires are a very subjective item around here but i'll give you my two cents.

I have 27" mud lites and really like them. Other than being heavier than stock (still lighter than allot of otehr mud tires) I really like how they ride. They seem to be a good all around tire but are not the best mud tire nor the best rock tire nor are they the best hard pack tire. Traction is great in the mud and soft stuff and ok on hard pack. I have hardly ridden them on pavment. I have about 500 miles on them and they show a little wear but at this rate i'd expect to get 2000+ miles out of them. I've only had them up to 50 and had no problems at that speed. At first I had some vibration but that went away after the first few rides. I do have vibration below 5mph due to the tread pattern.

I am looking to get a set of ATRs to put on stock rims as well and run those during the summer when there is not so much mud and snow here.

Go with the Type 5 wheels. That rock crusher lip or whatever it's called is VERY durable.

I have that exact combo. It does rob some power. After a little more break in on the motor, I did not notice as much difference. I would not go bigger unless you really need the extra 1/2 or 1 inch more ground clearance. On hard packed, I really felt the front end was too harsh. The stocks were more forgiving. In the mud, they seemed unstoppable.

700cc:

I have a set of the Type 4 wheels and Maxxis Bighorn Radials on my Twin Peaks (check out my pics).......and in my own humble opinion, they are AWESOME! I prefer the look of the Type 4's over the new 5's & 6's, but that's just me. The Type 4's also come in BLACK, and they look trick as hell. As far as the Bighorn Radials go, they work REALLY WELL in the mud and muck, but they work REALLY, REALLY WELL on the rough and rocky terrain.

Due to the Bighorns' extremely aggressive pattern and very tall lugs, the ride on pavement is less than desirable, but very comfortable and stable on hardpack, mud, and sand. I try not to ride on asphalt at all, so the wear on my tires is not evident, and I have over 250 miles on them so far.

The bighorns do come in 26" or are supposed to be out at some point.

I do have to say the black ITP wheels look awesome - look in my gallery as that is what I have.

I also like the black C-series. Bling, Bling! My point was that the Type 5's are less prone to rim dings or as it goes with aluminum wheels, rim chips. I do quite abit of riding on rocky trails and have hit so hard I stopped to look and so far the Type 5's have suffered only srapes. My brother's Type 4's are a different story. All four wheels have some pretty big chips.

I definately recommend the Bighorns. They have also proved to be VERY durable and are, IMO, the best do-it-all-tire around.
