ok...not like ive been thru this before but its been a while.I have a hetrick modded lt,fresh bore only. my kid used to race it then it sat.while he was trail riding,it just all the sudden refused to idle,runs great with choke on,still dosent snap the way it used to. compression is around 90 warm and i pulled the carb completly apart i mean main,pilot,venturi,soaked and blew out completely,still wont idle idlescrew set good,just dont get it am i missing somthing?oops comp just below 120 forget.......wot

havent talked to him in a while.iam wonderin if i just need a general rebuild,one thing,i switched to 87 pump gas from 100 wonder if its that,took it apart after I posted re blew it out,changed the inline,checkedfuel flow,good,played with the idle,its very irratic,its either too high,or it idles and dies,when I chop the throttle,seems that it returns ok,but it will idle high and slowly drop all the way dead no matter how it is adjusted

 

You'll need at least 92/93 octane.
Your going to take the piston out if not careful.

 

Yeah mabye Ill bump it back up,then if it dont work do a carb rebuild,thanks lt.....

 

Hey lt,Iam runnin about 120 little lower but it seems that the air intake thru the carb wot is not that muchsuction,he said (my son ) he splashed thru a puddle and it bogged,and then it ran fine,wonder if thats what it is?

 

Could be.
120 is low for a modded motor.
