sportsman 550 or 500ho??

Default sportsman 550 or 500ho??

anyone know the power diff. between the new 550 and the 500 H.O? the 550 does not say its high output....anyone??

The 500 HO and EFI are 36.5 horsepower and the 550 is 40.Although the horsepower difference isn't that much I think the advantages of the 550 are more torque and a more efficient clutch and drivetrain setup.

If you're just comparing the motors then I would say no,however these are two completely different quads.It all depends on how you ride,work,and play.There are many things to consider like storage,steering,suspension,and handling.If you mostly trail ride then the 550 would probably be a better choice.If you do alot of mudding then the 500 would be a better choice because of the lower gearing in low range.Both are great choices,just need to see what suits you better.

The XP 550 is better in nearly every way, but since it just came out it may take awhile to work out any possible bugs. If you don't mind being the guinnea pig, go for it. I went with a known quantity when I bought my 500.
