2016 Honda rubicon won’t shift into gear.

2016 Honda rubicon won’t shift into gear. Once the bike warms up and has been rode around for a while, if I put into neutral, I get a horizontal bar on my display. It blinks the code 24. Then the bike will not shift into drive or reverse. The shifting motor does not make that clicking sound it usually makes by shifting into gear. If I leave the bike to cool down for a few hours, I can start it and it will shift into drive once again. (I just figured this out the second time it left me stranded in the woods). I changed the shaft angle sensor hoping to luck out. Any ideas?

Assuming you have an ES model, the shift motor, connector or wiring is failing when it heats up.
You can replace the motor and clean and seal the connector, and that will probably fix it.
Or if the motor is still good, you can bypass the computer to fix it:
The bypass works for all ES models.

I thought it was an ES model, but now I see he said it would not shift into Drive in the first post. ES models do not have a Drive mode, and the ECU Bypass System only works on ES models.
The shift from N to D to R is mechanical and done in the subtransmission. Once in D, the hydraulic dual clutch system takes over.
I could program a micro-controller to bypass the computer, which would need to issue a sequence of signals for each shift. But it would be difficult to figure out the right sequence without a lot of testing, and I do not own a DCT model.
Code 24 means bad shift motor or connection on ES models. It probably means the same on DCT models.
