Starter
#1
My starter just "clicks" when I push the little green button. Its had been doing it once in a while than eventually with repeated attemps fire as usual. That would mainly happen when it was cold. Now it does it even after its been running for a couple of hours. I assume the starter is bad, does anyone else have this problem or know how much one costs. I use my quad for snow removal, the pull start usually fires it up with the first or second pull, but those 500cc take some pulling, like the button much better.
Thanks for any input

You can find the starter, and rebuild parts from:
http://www.brownsleisureworld.com (it's in Canadian Dollars though). There is another one in US dollars, but I forgot the link.
You don't want a new starter (unless you want to sell a first born). The site lists it at $432 CND. You can usually rebuild it.
You might want to check the battery. Is it charged good? Are the connections good from the battery and to the starter? The clicking noise is usually from low voltage to the starter, which is usually caused by either a dead battery or poor connections.
Usually, a dead starter is just plain dead (it doesn't click). Turning it a bit may get it going again if it's a bad winding or something like that. You also might want to check the solenoid. Not sure where it is on the parts list though. It'll supply the power to the starter when you hit the button.
An easy check is to hook a wire directly to the starter, and touch it to the + on the battery. If it turns over the starter is fine. It could also be a bad starter button.
Hope this helps.

Usually when tjey just click, it's the starter solenoid bad and not the starter. The switch on the grip closes the solenoid which feeds power to the starter. The work after clicking it several times also say solenoid.
