Belt slipping on 2000 4x4 500 auto
Can someone please tell me if the belt can be adjusted? If not where can I get a repair manual to show me how to replace it (besides the dealer). I am trying to avoid the dealer price for repair. Would like to locate a step by step guide to adjust or replace the belt. Also is a upgrade belt avail? Arctic Cat 500 4x4 auto 2000 model. Please help
Thanks,Strangebrew

I don't know of any adjustments to the belt itself. It is continually engaged....that is to say...when the clutch moves the belt moves. Are you experiencing the famous "bark" or "chirp" or is it actually slipping. If it is a bark are chirp....then it is prolly when you come to an abrupt stop and then accelerate. That is a back shift issue and the only thing that I found to "help" it is to put more pre-load on the spring. It still happens to me once in a while even with the "tranny trick".....I have 2000 miles on my machine and the belt is still holding on....even with the occasional "chirp".
If you do a search for "bark" "chirp" "tranny trick".....you will find that others have had the same problem....it is annoying but it is something I can live with. It mainly happens to me when I am plowing snow and come into a pile and reverse. Other than that with the pre-load on the spring...I have'nt had much problems.
