Don't even get me started on this topic. What I gotta pay for a place out here in the OC would make your eyes bug out. And then you add on the property taxes I pay to support the half of mexico thats here I just wanna scream. I have seen houses for sale in TRF that are less than what I pay in just property taxes on my house every year. Now add in California income taxes, sales taxes, fuel taxes, etc, etc.

Yeah, taxes are a poke in eye for me. I now pay in taxes more than I made just 20 years ago. It would be one thing of they went for right purposes, but when you live where I live you see so much it abused.

i pay 900 a year on 1.6 acres in town and my home values at about 80,000 so that isn't bad. it was supposed to be about 650 but they skyrocketed this year (restrains himself from placing blame)

weez, I pay more a month than you pay all year; think low 5 figures. And that is in a subdivision with very little space between houses. Really gets my blood boiling sometimes when I think of all the waste....
Even on my land up there near Grygla the taxes have doubled in seven years; and that is with no new roads, no new schools, nothing to show for it.

Since 1980, 80% of the jobs that have been created in the OECD world -- the industrialized world of Western Europe, North America and Japan -- were created in the United States. Another 10% were created in Britain, and another 10% were all of Europe and all of Japan combined. And the reason is that we have a low tax rate. Dick Morris 12 April 2007

<continues to restrain himself from placing blame> dee you should just move on up here. and i am looking at buying 2 lots across the highway from me cause i don't want anyone to move in there and who knows maybe someday they will go up in value but i dunno i am on the extreme outskirts of town i got nobody behind me nobody in front of me 1 house to the north of me about 75 yards and one to the south of me about 100 yards. lol i rip around here on my dirtbike all the time and shoot the occasional grey squirl dead with the 20 gauge. i am very happy in my lil slice of heaven. but then again everyones taxes are going up even here in minnesota right dean? i think it was actually 680 last year and i bought the house and they reappraised it and well there was no improvements done on the house or property for a couple years and they wanted to jump it up to 1200 a year and i had the realtor fight it and they brought it down to about 900.

Yeah, a lot of towns up there are dying off. The school is down about 20 - 25 % since I went there in the early 80's. I know I will only move up there when I am permanently retired. Not a whole lot of high paying jobs in the area anymore. It's hard to believe that AC used to be the biggest and best paying employer up there, around the TRF area anyway.
