Default Instrument Cluster

Fathers hunting partner has a question for all you Cat pros!!

At about 1000 km's, lost cluster (not illumiation but everythig else), replaced cluster under warranty, lasted 250k, happened again and now off warranty, failed again. Dealer will not replace under warranty and tell him that is common.

Don't want to be replacing every year and just want to know what to do?, is there a problem, a repair, something else causing it?

Any suggestions will be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Default Instrument Cluster

My manual says to unplug the Instrument cluster for 60seconds then plug it back in. It makes more sense to disconnect the battery. I rememebr reading that the issue is caused by some internal electrical problem on the clock.

Also, if it sits for a long time the internal clock can drain the battery to the point the starter will not work. How good your battery is determines how long it can sit. I think a battery trickle charger or battery manintainance device is suggested.
