Default Ignition Fuse Blowing/Hand Brake

Gotta agree with Bigcat, if both switches cause the fuse to blow independantly, the problem must be in a downstream common componet. I'd start at the brakelight assembly and work my way forward.

Makes sense.

O and Commander concerning "caution -- rider may bail"...

Second rule of running dogs
"Never let go!"

Success! Arcing was happening from top edge of bulb to socket.
Never thought it was the bulb as tail light worked fine (and there is just
the one bulb. Live and learn.

Good to hear you have the problem fixed, was it corroded or wet inside the light socket? Good job Bigcat did this happen to you before?

Yeah sorry...should have acknowledged...
Bigcat you get the cigar!

No moisture. I still don't know why it did not short
out with just the light and only the brake light.
???? I guess maybe just the additional amperage.

Discovering circuit breaker fuses was another plus to
this process.

But anyway...off and running.

Thanks all!

Yes, it happened to me, on cars and trucks . I think it might be a good idea to have a seperate fuse for the Ignition, so you don't get stuck in the middle of the bush.

I wouldn't get stuck in the bush.
I Generally have a dozen dogs along for the
ride. They make for a nice backup.

Thanks again and your right; I don't really want the
ignition fuse being a shared one.

Good thread Dogrunner...
Also, good thing your dogs don't have -- short fuses...
Have a good year of riding after the head ache...
