Transmission Issue
THe transmission on my 1980 ATC-110 Honda 3 wheeler is messed up. I can shift, but as I am riding it, it makes a loud noise like it's not catching or maybe it's hitting something...but it's not going into gear. It doesn't go when i push the gas, it just makes a noise and stops like it's idling. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Oh, and where is the transmission at...we tried looking but we don't wanna do too much and have it not be where we're looking. Thanks.

You will have to split the cases to get to the transmission.
Before going that far though, eliminate a few other things.
First off, go buy a manual. You will need it since you have no wrenching experience in an engine.
I would first look at the subtransmission. It's the part of the transmission that has your Hi-Lo lever on it. If you are lucky, you will find your problem here.
Second, remove the clutch cover[opposite side of the engine] and check the shifting linkage and primary gear area.
From reading your post, you are probally confused from reading mine. I'm trying to make it sound simple, but it's hard to do in here.
If you don't feel that you or someone you know is capable of doing this for you, you may to think if paying the price for a shop or dealership to do it for you will be worth the value of the 110. Also...You will be hard pressed to find someone to give you an estimate for repair, because it will be impossible to do so until they inspect the problem and most likely tearing it down.
Good Luck

I would check the subtrans like Knowsalot said. My 84 110 would do that after shifting the subtrannny from high to low, and then back to high. The gears didnt quite catch, and it made a weird knocking noise, and acted like it was in neutral. Look at a pic of it on Bike bandit, and you will see how it works.
