I'm not sure about the tri Z but for $200 I would look and see if you can get the parts to repair it...if so I would consider it!

Yes, and is right on par with the later Rs as well like HA2 pointed out.
Back in the day, all the praise for the Tri-Z revolved around it's gas tank that was mounted under the seat. I never raced one on flat track and never spent any time on one to notice, but everyone back then said it was the best for flat track because all the fuel weight was kept lower in the frame and didn't require as much body movement to keep it flat in the corners. Makes sense to me.
If you don't buy it, I will. I don't have any Tri-Zs in the pen

Read that artical again. It said that the Tecate was the fastest on top end but the 250R had better low end and would get the holeshot and if it did the Tacate could not catch up by the end of the drag, and if the Tecate got the hole shot the R could never catch it, But most of the time honda won the holeshot. So the 250R won most the drags. Both were 86's by the way. If you were going to run a very long distance than the the Tecate was the topend screamer but not many of us have a 1/4 mile strait to run. To answer you Question yes the 86 liquid cooled Tri-Z would be faster than an air cooled 83R. If you need any parts for that 86 Z, let me know, I have alot of parts for it.
