A fellow builder and riding buddy swears to me that he rode a built 110 that would hit 55. Any takers???

Boy if that is true you could have suprised some 200s owners with that.

First be sure it is indeed a 110. Alot of the old flat trackers ran SL90 engines that were stroked and bored to 115s.

They had a 4 speed manual clutch transmission and a kick start. They would go 65-70mph through the straightaways.

Although it has been years since I saw one invest into one, I have seen several 110s that would break the 55mph mark and some that even came close to 60.......but I haven't seen one based off of the 110 engine run faster.

That is awesome. I did not doubt it, I just had never seen one. Do you remember their stock top speed? It may have been around 40.

40 to 45 seemed to be the average speed of a stock 110 and I think it always depended on the size of the *** on board if I remember correctly

I wanted to say 45 but you know how everything seemed bigger when you were small. Some of my friends thought that blasters went 75 to 85 stock

I do remember that you had to wind out 3rd for about 1/2 an hour and then hold forth for the rest of the afternoon to really see what she would do.

Kowsalot,

I'm new here,,, caught your mention of the SL90.

Does anyone have addtional info on how to wring every ounce of go out of one of these? I have a couple of these SL90 motors and have been waiting for the chance to put one of them in my 110. My kids are begging me to make it go faster.

I'm also modding the110 frame to take a 200X front end.

I'd also like to mod the rear end to take a swing arm. I had seen a few atc185 with a swingarm on them in the distant past. Anyone have any experience they are willing to share on that subject?

superglide,

It was long before the internet days when those SL90s were showing up on 110s everywhere.

You may want to do some digging on the net for people who are into vintage motorcycle racing. Those bikes are still out there in full force on the vintage bike circuit. I went to a motorcycle swap meet a coupkle years ago and there was a company there who were dedicated specifically to the Honda "laydown" engines of old. I can't remember the name though
