Buying Used Quad from out of state?
I live in New Jersey and I'm thinking of buying a used 02 honda sportrax 300ex from a dealer in Illinois. Shipping isn't too bad, the atv was listed at 3,229 and with shipping was around 3,529.
Wondering if anyone thinks it's a bad idea to get a used atv from out of state?
Has anyone done this before and had a bad experience?
How good are these quads in terms of reliability, what if i get this thing and something goes wrong with it?
Please, any advice would help, thanks.

Not much could be wrong with a 2002 300ex, they are very solid and reliable. They have been around for a long time and handle well.
If the price is what you want to pay, I say go for it. But you will be responsible for NJ sales tax should you want a NJ title for the quad

Ask em if the original tires are still on it and what kind of shape they are in, this should give you a good idea about how many hours are on it, any aftermarket stuff such as skids and pipe/muffler.
Pictures would help too.
Ask if there is ANYTHING not 100%. For that price the 300ex should be 100%

PapaGorgio, I answered your question on the "buying a atv" thread.
Does the price of the 300EX include all the transfers, taxes and whatever else? It does seem like a decent price. But once you've purchased a used quad without a warranty. It's yours! If anything is wrong with it then you'll end up paying more. If you buy from someone closer then at least you can go in and yell at them if something goes wrong. I'm not sure how the lemon laws apply in different states and the time period you'd have to return the machine. Then again it might be ok. Good luck with your decision.

Ok, what do you guys think about this one. Just got off the phone with a dealer in Mississippi. it's an 01 300ex, tires are 20% worn, all orginal except for a nerf bar, he got it from a honda auction in AZ. price is $2,595 and $350 for shipping. suposedly in excelent condition.
He told me that if for some odd reason something is wrong with it when i get it, I can bring it to a local dealer and have them fix it and he will pay the dealer who is fixing it. I guess I should ask for any other hidden cost he may not have told me on my next phone call. He also said most of his business comes from out of state or country.
again, thanks for the input.
I'm gonna get fired for researching all day at work =)
