new quad???....now or later
i need a new quad.....badly
im gonna ride trails and track with an occasional trip to silver lake sand dunes
im 15 years old, 150lbs, with experience riding my buddys ozark and my own 90...mostly the ozark
here are my options..
i can buy a quad now..but my funds are limeted to 1600 bucks
that means ill probably pick up a used blaster, hopefully 03 and up (brakes)
i can wait about six months and ill have aorund 2600 to spend
ill probably look at used 400ex's maybe z400's or rap660's
one thing i wanted to know was
is a 250 r a good idea
my freinds dad is a mechanic so i could do basic fix-upping
i want a qaud i wont have to replace ( which is a problem with the blaster)
any ideas/honest opinions would be great

With the limited experience you have, you might want to get something a little less potent than the 400's and up. Have you thought about a 300ex or Warrior? For the money you are looking at, you might want to get a Blaster and upgrade down the road, because for low 2g's you can't get a 400 that isn't going to need some attention. You could probably find a nice Blaster for low 2g's.

But dont u think i would outgrow the blaster too soon??
whatever bike i get ill have to keep it for the next 3-4 years.
oh btw, the kid who i ride with is gettin an 05 z400 when they release the 07's (he's rich). i really don't want to be left too far in the dust.

Wont you try to find a used Raptor 350, or a good 300ex? Or a warrior like motox said. Im wanting to get a Raptor 350 or 300ex when im about 15 or 16. So I thought itd be a good idea. I wouldnt want to get a blaster because its a 2 stroke. Id hate to have to mix the oils! And Blasters are only 200cc. So think about it dude.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

it depends on a few things -if your experienced and can handle power get a 400 of some kind
- if your inexperienced you can get a blaster and when you get used to it
u can make a blaster fly with a few modds
so do what ever u think is best but i suggest a 400(suzuki) because a blaster is 2stroke has some maintience reqiured and will out grow in about 1 year or so.

i had a 300ex for my first sport quad and i loved it ...the thing riped when i started putting mods on it though when i first got i the stock engine was pritty slow but when i through the HMF system jets and k&n filter in it really woke up but i got rid of it in 2 year and bought my 400 and this thing is like a rocket ship
